Sandstone bricks are rectangular in shape and are used for paving walls and hard surfaced floors in the architecture of the building. Available in various other colors, the light brown sandstone bricks are extensively used as it creates a beautiful effect in the building. The general characteristics of sandstone bricks are its hardness, compact, fine look, and possess good compressive strength and low absorption property.

Area Of Excellence
The districts of Karauli, Dholpur and Bharatpur on the east, Kota, Bundi, Bhilwara and Chittorgarh on the south, and Nagaur and Jodhpur on the west of Jaipur are the most famous for sandstone bricks. Shivpuri and Lalitpur in Madhya Pradesh also have fair amount of sandstone bricks.

Usage
These can be custom designed and made in different dimensions for varied applications. The highly durable sandstone bricks are used for wall cladding and flooring purposes. These strips are used to make different designs on the walls and when combined with strips of other colors, it can be used to create varied patterns.
